"I only met Joe one time, but had an opportunity to enjoy his sense of humor. While we carry the same last name, we are not related. Joe’s older brother, Fred, was my classmate at Pomona College from 1967-71. Six years ago last weekend, a group of us got together to participate in The Relay, a 199 mile, 12 person, overnight team race from Marin to Santa Cruz. Our team was called the Slow Old Sagehens (Pomona’s mascot), although we had a few team members who were not alums; one other Feller brother participated with Fred and Joe, so 33% of our team was named Feller.  My other connection is the fact that I grew up in Phoenix and still visit my parents and one brother there.

"My wife and I live in the suburbs just north of New York City and spend most weekends in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts. On our way home this afternoon we were able to stop at Bear Mountain Reservation just outside Danbury, CT.  This hill is so heavily forested that there are no great photos from the top. I’ve attached a few that we took for your collection, including one next to Candlewood Lake which is in the park. There are several other Bear Mountain opportunities in our region. Bear Mountain Park, NY is just across the Hudson River not far from West Point. It’s been years since we were last there, but this will give us an incentive
